Default The LeX-Files - Episode One "The Ghost Dial"

Several months ago, I noticed a disturbing increase in paranormal activity. So, I reached out to the citizens of the Realm:

[ 4] Lexie: Wanted for Hire -- A Team of Ghostbusters
    Sun May 21 15:10:09 2017
    To: all

The ghosting situation is completely OUT OF CONTROL!
When a ghost of a zombie created by a ghost starts haunting me
there is a serious problem. Very serious. So. I need help.
As I am currently involved in an xp race with Zhou of unknown
duration, I need round-the-clock ghostbusting. Thus, the Team.

Please submit resumes in a note to me. "Turning" at "superb"
is a minimum requirement. If you are an "expert" all the better!
Salary is commensurate with experience, but I will pay well.
Hours will range, you will need to be on-call 24/7.

A shaman may also apply as long as your "haunt" is at "superb" or
better. You will be required to haunt anyone of my choosing, so
leave any morals or scruples at the door before you apply. Please.

P.S. Apprentice clerics or shaman(men?) may apply but I will require
at least 2 of you with me at all times, since your turning and haunt
will need some serious improvement. It is a paid apprenticeship,
and you will receive course credits for any institutions you're
    currently enrolled in.

    ****

There had been several eyewitnesses to the increased ghost activity, but only a few brave souls spoke out about it (kudos to Marian, Founder of Ghostbusters, Inc.!!) But, I noticed people were no longer asking me to join their groups. They clearly didn't want to attract any unusual paranormal attention. I was getting feared or confused with nearly every ghost, and ghosts were shimmering above nearly every corpse. Samiyah tried her best to help me, handing me a bag made from Jeshael the Mad hide filled with about 30 sanity potions, that's how bad it was getting.

After meticulous record-keeping and investigation, I came to believe there was indeed a conspiracy, possibly involving Thor, and definitely involving Tokugawa. I further deduced there exists a "Ghost Dial," operated by the Ghost Controller, that could be adjusted from a minimum setting of ZERO to a MAX OUTPUT number. But still, most citizens have remained skeptical about my Immortal Conspiracy claims, and that a Ghost Controller and the "Ghost Dial" even existed. I'm sure many believed that I was "crazy."

But, deep down, I knew -- the Truth is out there.... And I would find it some day.

    Today was that day.

I was in a Dark room, recovering from YES, yet another onslaught of ghosts. I complained to Eathor that there was a God at the Ghost Dial, and had just turned it up a notch. Eathor chuckled (understandably a skeptic). But, a short time later, he laughed about all the infos he was getting, of ghosts sighing, "My prey is gone." I did not understand what he meant at the time. But then, my darkness spell faded, and this is what I saw:

The ghost of a worshiper prays for passage through solid barriers.
The ghost of a worshiper turns translucent.

    Someone leaves north.

    The Sea-Lock
    [Exits: none]

This small chamber is barricaded at both ends and is used for docking
underwater, providing a chamber to keep the Te'nayu'ka from flooding
when unloading at Tiren's Rock. Stout doors keep back the waters, an
    unbreakable lock on each.

[Notice the FAKE Light Blue Aura of Tokugawa - an issue I address, as President of TACO, in other important posts to the Realm]

    You faint.

    You gossip (in common), 'Ooommgggggg'.

You gossip (in common), 'i thought they were your ghosts, Eathor'.

    Tokugawa gossips, 'nope! all yours!'.

You gossip (in common), 'I TOLD YOU THERE WAS SOMEONE AT THE DIAL'.

    Tokugawa gossips, 'better get busy'.

Eathor gossips (in common), '*grin* Ghosts for Lexie!'.

The Aft Gangway of the Te'nayu'ka
    [Exits: north east west]

Stretching towards the bow of the ship, this passageway is flanked
by archways to the east and west that lead to the ballast chambers.
It is bare of ornamentation and not well-traveled. The surface of
the walls, ceiling and floor is pale, and oddly flexible to the
touch, more organic than metallic in nature.

The ghost of the lady of the house was last here, traveling north.

    Tokugawa arrives from the south.

[I decided to fireball whatever ghosts followed me out of the safe room]

    Tokugawa stops following you.
    Your fireball devastates Tokugawa.

    You parry Tokugawa's attack.
You take a swing at a GOD, and miss badly!

    You say (in common), 'doh'.

    Tokugawa's pierce *** ANNIHILATES *** you!
    That really did HURT!
    You parry Tokugawa's attack.
You take a swing at a GOD, and miss badly!

The ghost of an escape artist arrives from the south.
    Tokugawa's pierce *** ANNIHILATES *** you!
    That really did HURT!
    You sure are BLEEDING!
    Attempting to flee...

    Tokugawa gossips, 'haha'.

You gossip (in common), 'you almost killed me!'.

    You gossip (in common), ':P'.

[Obviously, Tokugawa WANTED me to attack him, but again, that's an issue I address in other important posts]

In closing, as you can all see, the Truth *is* out there regarding the Ghost Dial, and I have finally uncovered it.

Please exercise extreme caution when adventuring, because the dial could be turned to MAX OUTPUT at any time. And without any warning....

You are crazy but that has no bearing on this discussion.

I wanted to show you would it would look like if there was such a "dial" tuned to max. There is no such dial or setting.

Listen, SmokingEars Man, I'm on to you and your conspiracy, and this denial is just further proof of the existence of the Ghost Dial.

It certainly could not be something under your control. I see it's much easier to blame someone else.

So, are you saying the ghost situation is something caused by me? How do you explain the increased paranormal activity for *all* citizens at certain times? It matters not their race, class, creed, gender, or disposition for violence *cough*! Pacifists have confided in me that the ghosts cause them to hide in darkness. Ogres have shouted outrage as well.

I implore you, great and noble citizens, to support me now and recount your unusual ghostly occurrences.

P.S. Thor, if you're listening, I want your sworn affidavit attesting that you indeed are one of the Ghost Controllers, as you confessed to me one early morning at the Rowen Bay docks. If not, I am prepared to blackmail you.

I'm not typically one to pander to ridiculous conspiracy theories, but today I definitely noticed an increase in paranormal activity, nearly a ghost for every other mob killed. Lexie may be on to something here, and I'm quite sure that is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Who ever thought ghosts can be controlled? If you'd salt and burn the bones of your victims like you're supposed to, maybe you wouldn't have such a ghost problem.

Default Thor's Silence = A Tacit Admission the Ghost Dial Exists

Below, dear Citizens, is a log wherein Thor is accused not once, but three times, of being in control of the Ghost Dial. Yet, He remained silent in the face of such serious accusations. His silence, at the SAME time an OUT OF CONTROL ghost situation plagued the Realm, is uncontroverted evidence in support of my claims:

    A Meditation Chamber
    [Exits: north]

You have entered a dark chamber, the sconces carved out of the black
onyx walls providing just enough light to make out shadows and little
else. Chanting can be heard all around you, and there are shadows
everywhere. It seems like this is some sort of meditation chamber,
reserved for prayer and contemplation. There is an open archway
leading out to the main cavern north of here.

You managed to trample any tracks that were here...

P.S. Thor, I tried the salt and charred bones deal, to no avail. It does not work when there is a God in charge of the Ghost Dial.
