Bitter Sweet Defeat

Cecil's followers killed Cron'Tor recently. I offer my congratulations to them! It was quite a feat, and Cron'Tor has created quite a few corpses over the past few days. All those lifeless bodies bring a smile to my face. The organized groups also brought a smile to my face. You stood up to the challenge.

At the same time, I am disappointed that Cron'Tor wasn't quite the challenge I had hoped he would be. After reviewing the log of the fight, I see that he didn't exactly meet the potential that I so lovingly coded into him, and that makes me sad. I've pondered simply restoring some part of corrupted magic a little each time he is killed. This would give Cron'Tor an opportunity utilize his unused potential.

But after all is said and done, that'd be kinda cheap. I would not presume to generalize about motivations, but I'm sure fixing magic ranked among them for at least some of the combatants. It would not be sporting of me to string you along further.

So, magic will return to normal, with one exception. Portal is broken. I'll work to fix it, but until then, it will still misbehave.

I'll probably leave Cron'Tor in the world a while longer, and take the time to ensure that he's working properly. Who knows? Perhaps there will be reason to kill him again. Hey, maybe I can change it so the last xp to level to effective 50th must be from Cron'Tor! Or, maybe getting a simple ring will require several million gold plus the corpse of Cron'Tor. The possibilities! Heh heh heh.

Congratulations again to those that brought Cron'Tor down!
